The media has been a familiar and routine part of our life, intricately woven into our lifestyles; we cannot afford to be oblivious of its significant and powerful existence. Consequentially, the study of media is rapidly expanding and more importantly, the media is increasingly part of our lives, our culture and global economies. Hence, it is essential to attempt to understand and deconstruct meanings behind media texts and seek to find its origin and intention in its various frameworks. The options available to perceive media texts in its various forms and conditions, has two distinctly contrasting methodologies. Considering the differences between these methods would help us understand and acknowledge the role media texts and messages play in our everyday life. ... It is important to study media because it is a subject not only confined to academic discipline, it also a personal subject of study. It holds relevance to every single participant and consumer of the media; a subject worth consideration and critical thought because “it is about people as individuals and members of groups, about how we communicate -or not-: about power and manipulation: about art and entertainment” (Bazelgatte, 2000:5). ... Although we are contained and surrounded by media, the answer to its interpretations is within us. To be able to filter, understand and finally judge these messages, we have to first seek to learn and know media in its raw being and its construction to being formed finally, as a media text. The media is worth critical attention and thought because there is no distinct accurate definition even until this present millennia age.
