The US and USSR
Our relations with other nations, throughout the history of the United States, have been mostly consistent. However, never before have we seen such tolerance at some times, or such hatred at others, as in our relations with the Soviet Union. Several times between 1960 and 1980 the United States and Russia have had breaches of trust: the Bay of Pigs Fiasco, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the invasion of Afghanistan by the Soviets, all of which caused the trust between the two nations to deteriorate. The relations between the United States and the Soviets first started cooling off in the ‘60s after the Bay of Pigs Fiasco.
