2. For my first goal of improving my 3Km run time, the body parts which are being utilised and developed are my legs and arms. My legs (Lower leg and Thigh) are being utilised and developed as a result of running 3Km three times a week and also because legs are the main part of the body used for running. More specifically the muscles that will be developed in my legs from the consistency of running will be the calf muscles and the quadriceps. The running action, which is created by these muscles, will therefore cause them to increase in size as they are used more often and have an increased blood flow and being pushed harder than before. The arms are also being utilised from the action of running 3Km consistently. The arms roll into a swinging motion while running which increases balance and also the power of the stride the legs take. Strength of arms is essential for speed and is very closely related to running and sprinting.
