Do One Thing Every Day That Scares you

What makes a person brave? Some people say bravery is an act that risks a life, others say it is overcoming a fear or rising above a barrier. Still others say bravery is standing up for what you believe in. Many characters in To Kill a Mockingbird show bravery in one way or another. Two such characters are Atticus Finch and Mrs. Dubose. In present days they are both noted for their bravery; they both exhibit at least three types of bravery: overcoming a fear, rising above a barrier, and standing up for what they believe in. A private man, Atticus does not show much of his courage straight out; the reader must steal glimpses of it as the lawyer’s story flows by. Atticus gives us that first glimpse when he agrees to defend Tom Robinson. In merely agreeing to this, he not only stands up for what he believes in (all men were created equal), but he also overcomes a hurdle (actually trying to get Tom a fair trial).
