Television shows and the influence on children

Television programs that are targeted towards children, such as cartoons, can affect children in a negative way. I examined a variety of cartoons on television to observe the content of childrens programming and determine the effect programs have on children. The cartoons contain a wide variety of subject matters that can influence children in many different ways. Many television programs still contain violence for the young viewers because many people forget the effects and consequences of the violence observed by children. According to The American Psychological Association, the average preschooler watches well over twenty hours of television a week, and more than 90 percent of programs during childrens prime viewing hour’s feature violence; by the time they enter middle school, American kids have seen eight thousand killings and a hundred thousand more acts of violence on TV.
