... Gay marriage is something that is slowly making it’s way into every community. At first, the thought of gay marriage was completely out of the question due to religious beliefs, but now we are seeing more of it due to government intervention. Arguments over gay marriage cover basically every topic you can think of, and many of them being based on religious ideas. ... For every argument against gay marriage there seems to be a rebuttal that is quite logical. The first argument which goes against gay marriage is the fact that they cannot procreate, therefore have no reason to be married. ... This is the point which makes the argument of procreation being the reason for marriage, completely moot. The next argument as to why gay people should not be able to be married is that it is against religion. ... Another reason coming from straight people opposing gay marriage is that they feel as though homosexual marriage will devalue the institution of marriage. ... There are many open ended arguments as to why gay marriage should not be allowed. ... At the same time, we do not allow gay marriage which means that people who have been living together in a relationship for say 20 years are not allowed to be married and enjoy the financial benefits of marriage due to their sexual orientation.
