Conflicts in friendships are caused by a disagreements and the misuse of trust. Sometimes they can destroy ones friendship. In novel John and Lorraine experience many conflicts which taught them that a negative attitude can be destructive. Lorraine's mother's bad experiences with men cause her to be over protective with her daughter's social life.
