10 Things I Hate About You

Many people have said that nothing has been written that Shakespeare didn't write first. He was such an amazing and prolific writer that he wrote the paramount comedies, tragedies, mysteries, and everything in between. The fact that all plots are inspired by Shakespeare can be seen when we compare modern day plays and movies to Shakespearean works. Five hundred years after they were written, Shakespearean plays are still being remade. One such play is the comedy, "The Taming of the Shrew."
"The Taming of the Shrew" is the story of two sisters. One sister, Bianca, is the picture of sweetness and the desire of all the men in her town. The other sister, Katharina, is harsh and mean, and no man is brave enough to be her husband. The two daughters' father realizes that Katharina will have problems finding a husband, so he decides that he will not give Bianca's hand in marriage until her sister is also wed. Bianca knows that her sister will never marry, so she begins to despair. Then Petruchio comes into the play. Petruchio boasts that he will marry any woman, as long as her dowry is large enough. And, since Katharina's dad knew that any man would need plenty of incentive to marry his feisty daughter, her dowry was very large. So, Petruchio ties Kat to a donkey and drags her off to his decrepit house. In order to try and break her of her fiery ways, Petruchio deprives Kat of food, water, and sleep. She must acknowledge Petruchio as her master and provider of well being in order to go see her sister's wedding. So she does.

During this time back at the sisters' home town, several suitors are battling for Bianca's hand in marriage. After an odd display of disguises and deception, Lucentio finally wins Bianca's favor, and they plan to be wed.

Since Kat has been behaving like a good subservient little girl, she is allowed to go to her sister's wedding. She behaves the way she should for awhile, but then it looks likes she...
