While interviewing Lillian, I began to observe a pattern emerging among her statements about becoming active in the AIDS education cause. ... The goal of this paper was to gather and document a life history to discover the variables that lead to volunteerism and activism. The history provides subjective evidence of the effects volunteerism involvement have had on individuals lives from psychological and social perspectives. This life history interview I conducted also taught me that upbringing, major life events and personality were needed to be the catalyst for Lillian’s activism.
