GENDER ROLES

The physiological difference between a man and a women is evident. Genes and hormones, are responsible for defining gender and, to some extent, equally responsible for some emotional predisposition. Gender role, however, is not a product of our general makeup. It is, instead, a set of expected behaviors for males and for females that has been established over time and across cultures. This social phenomenon has had, and still has, tremendous influence in one`s sexual identity. Although contemporary society has witnessed certain changes, patriarchy seems to prevail.
