Amongst the Chaos
Anne Taylor Period 5 January 22, 2003 Amongst the Chaos: The Running of the Bulls Amongst the chaos there’s no denial that in each running of the bulls, there’s always thousands of smiles. It might be the red wine, or maybe the gorings, but it might also be the chasings that’s more adoring. “Pleeeze do note raun with thee bulls eef you are dronk of high, eet eez every dangerous.” the announcer will say at the starting line every morning before the Running of the Bulls starts. In the second week of July, the only place to be is in Pamplona for the festival La Fiesta De San Fermin. Pamplona lies in the northern part of Spain. For over six centuries, dare-devils have been gathering in Pamplona every year to partake in the adrenaline filled running. According to Scott Stravou, “on the Saturday beginning the non-stop nine day party, the mayor of Pamplona lights off a rocket that signals the opening of the festivities. The red wine and merry-making start strongly and do not ebb until the last bullfight on the following Sunday.” (Stavrou p.3) The history of the Running of the Bulls is debatable.
