A brief overview of the development of chemical weapons illustrates that the first big user of these weapons to be Germany during the First World War and in 1915 Germany released chlorine gas at Yepres. ... In the 1930s Gerhard Schrader, a German scientist began conducting research on the use of chemical pesticides. By chance, or fate, Schrader stumbled upon synthesizing the nerve agent named tabun. ... To much of the worlds surprise Germany, mainly under Hitlers reign, did not use the agents. ... Since the development of the VX gas there has been minor advancements, however in modern society there has been developments and critiques and manipulations of the earlier chemical weapons and strains. However, contemporary incidents prove that chemical warfare is still important and pertinent to todays society.
