Civil War
How did the South expect to win the Civil War? ... To pretty much sum up how the South expected to win the Civil War, was to hold its ground against the invading Union troops. By holding its ground against the Union, the Confederates would have the British believe that the Union destroyed its cotton supply and would cause England to enter the war on the Confederate side. The Confederates wanted the British to feel that there was a cotton shortage and enter the war and go after the Union.
