National and Global Labor Unions
There is a large difference between global unions and US labor unions. Unions were established in the US during the beginning of the 1800’s in the US as the need for workers rights began to increase due to the growing struggles between laborers and management. ... The period between the mid-1800s and the mid-1900’s was a time of both upheaval and standardization of the guidelines for both national labor unions and employers. On the other hand global labor unions remain, for the most part, in the infancy stage of forming. Because of the discrepancy between, nations weather it be political, cultural or economic, the building of a global labor union is considerably more difficult than the consolidation of one nations labor laws. When determining the standards and practices of a global labor union it is not only interests of one country’s labor force that must be considered.
