Discovering the Worth of Peace
Everyone has a different perspective and value of peace. I asked a second grader, “What is peace?” She said, “I think peace is a time where everyone gets along and no one fights – they are happy.” Then I asked her, “Do you think peace is important?” “ Yes, I like peace, peace is good for all of us,” she said with a cute smile. ... But now, let me tell you about my way of discovering and appreciating peace… I didn’t value peace much when I was young. I always assumed that peace is just something that is there and that nothing could possibly take that peace away from me. ... Why do people live in lives of fear and calamity while I have peace in my society?
