What Ben Franklin meant when he wrote the aphorism “No pain, no gain” in Poor Richard’s Almanac is that in order to get ahead in life you have to endure some type of pain, whether it be mental, physical or emotional. A lot of people have succeeded at making their goals and dreams come true under the aphorism “No pain, No gain.” People like Kurt Warner and Michael Jordan and even a butterfly have all struggled to achieve their goals but they all achieved them or came close to achieving them. This is exactly what “No pain, No gain” means. Kurt Warner, Michael Jordan and a butterfly prove this aphorism right.
