VIENNA SALES CONVENTION Vienna Sales Convention was signed on April 1980 in Vienna and came into force on 1 January 1988. This Convention was formed to replace the 1964 Uniform Law on the International Sale of Goods and Uniform Law on the Formation of Contracts for International Sale of Goods, which are referred to the Hague Conventions on the Uniform Laws on International Sales of 1964. ... The Vienna Sales Convention provides a uniform law for international sales of goods. It contains rules governing the formation of contracts for such sales and sets out the substantive rights and obligations of seller and buyer arising from the contract. According to the article 2 of the Convention, the sales of goods do not generally apply to consumer sales such as goods bought for personal, family or household use (Article 2). Benefits of Vienna Sales Convention Article 1 (c) - neither the nationality of the parties nor the civil or commercial character of the parties or of the contract is to be taken into consideration in determining the application of this Convention. This provision means that the Convention may apply to any contract, even though none of the parties to the contract has a place of business in the contracting state whose law becomes applicable. ...
