Charles Dickens

Charles Dickens was born at Landport, in Portsea, on February 7, 1812. ... Soon after the birth of Charles Dickens, however, the family moved to Norfolk Street, Bloomsbury and later to Chatham, which became the real home. By the age of twelve, Charles was working in a blacking company for only six shillings a day. When Dickens wrote, his paper would be filled with descriptions of images that he grew up around.
