In the heartfelt novel I Have Lived A Thousand Years, Livia Bitton-Jackson tells of her horrific experience in the Holocaust. She was born Elli L. Friedmann, and at 13, became a prisoner of pain, sadness, depression, loss, and death. Elli Friedmann of Czechoslavakia and her family experience great tragedy. They are a Jewish family and because of that, they are imprisoned. The concentration camps and the inhumane cruelty separates the Friedmann family. Death comes to most of the family members. After much torture, and few remaining the family is liberated. Elli does not understand why there is so much hate towards the jewish people. When all the hatred began to come into place, the jewish people began to lose every right they had.
