Early Archaeology went through many stages of development. These stages evolved to fit paradigms of the time and to meet the demands of the most recent discoveries. Classical and Scientific archaeology, although not simultaneous, are two critically important stages in the development of archaeology. They have two different ways of thinking as well as different techniques of exploration. Classical archaeology, also known as antiquarianism is the study or collection of antiquities.
