Utilitarianism
I can find no reason to contend Jeremy Bentham’s notion that the sensations of pleasure and pain are the motivating roots upon which all human actions spawn from. Relative to Bentham’s philosophical concept of Utilitarian hedonism in which he divides hedonism into two separate classifications, I do agree with one more than the other. As stated earlier, I accept the notion that pleasure and pain are factors that determine human behavior, thus I concur with the first classification, psychological hedonism, as it states that pleasure and pain determine what we do. However, I have some trouble in fully accepting the second classification, ethical hedonism, which states that pleasure is the only good, and actions are good only if they produce pleasure.
