Mozart and Salieri as a Neo Classical Drama
Neo-classicism is generally defined as a revival of classical aesthetics and forms. More specifically, one could say that Neo-classicism is a revival in literature in the late 17th and 18th centuries, characterized by a regard for the classical ideals of reason, form, and restraint. There are many elements of Alexander Pushkin’s play Mozart and Salieri that are connected with Neo-classical elements of writing. Along with carrying neo-classical themes and concepts, Mozart and Salieri is also littered with Romantic elements of religion and belief.
