Making Changes
In my life I have been assigned numerous essays. Writing essays is something that I have had to do in school for as long as I can remember and I will have to do until I’m done with school. Even though I’ve had to do them so much, I detest them. I’m horrible at writing essays and for that I have proof; my descriptive essay I did a couple of weeks ago. That atrocious essay did everything that Paul Roberts said not to in “How To Say Nothing In 500 Words.” My work was not very good, and that makes me wonder how I got a 79 out of 100 on it. It was awful and giving it a 50 would still have been a generous gift from Mrs. Black. Starting my essay late was probably the reason why so many errors were left unnoticed. After reading Paul Roberts’ essay, these oversights were brought to my attention. I can now recognize that I have problems in every single area mentioned in Paul Roberts’ essay. I’m glad I got to make the mistakes Paul Roberts talks about before I read his work because making the mistakes first helps me understand what he’s saying. The weekend was coming to an end and it had been a good one. I was relaxing, watching TV Sunday night when I suddenly remembered I had a descriptive essay due the next day at 2:30.
