Tet Offensive

The Tet offensive had a huge impact on the American public as well as an impact within the Administration. Following Tet, Johnson refused to send in the additional troops requested by Westmoreland. He also started to question his policy of escalation. Tet had a huge impact on the president himself. Not only was this impact political, but it was emotional as well. As seen on the class videos, you can see the appearance of his face change dramatically. His appearance at the signing of the Tonkin Gulf Resolution is one of strength and vigor, but his appearance after his withdraw is full of hopelessness and defeat.
