Hamlet’s Reaction to a Tragic Situation Many people react differently to many different situations. The play Hamlet is about a man’s reaction to a tragic situation. Hamlet’s, response to his fathers’ murder leaves him bewildered and over analytical. Because of his reaction, he has trouble coping with the events that take place. The many different situations that are presented to Hamlet pressure him to act differently. The meeting with the ghost and Claudius confession are two examples of Hamlet’s reaction to a tragic situation. The ghost appears to Hamlet and reveals his fate. Hamlet’s analyses of the three charges laid by the ghost “revenge his most unnatural murder” (1. ... 86-87) show that Hamlet is ready to jump into action and kill Claudius, but the circumstances will not let him. ... Claudius, is the king now and even though he murdered Hamlet’s father any action against him will be seen as treason, therefore he must be careful.
