Harold and Maude
In the movie Harold and Maude, many assumptions are being challenged. ... It portrays the "weird" relationship between an almost eighty-year-old female Holocaust survivor named Maude, and a rich, depressed, mock suicidal, teenage boy named Harold. Maude teaches Harold a variety of valuable lessons on individualism, love, and happiness. ... In one particular scene, Maude and Harold are discussing flowers. Maude said that she would love to be a sunflower because they are tall and simple. ... Just like Maude, sunflowers like to face the sun and look on the brighter side. But Harold on the other hand mentioned that he wants to be one of the white field daisies. ... " But Maude disapproved, she told him that every flower is different, even the white field daisies that all appear to be identical; they each have their own purpose. By showing Harold that every flower is different, she expresses Walls 2 that every person is different, and that it is a good thing. ... Maude, a Holocaust survivor, knew what it meant to be the same as everyone else. ... Another valuable lesson Maude teaches Harold is to love all things in life and to live it up. Maude steals a new car everyday just so it makes her life interesting and different.
