Many significant events during the 20th Century have helped shape what our country is today. ... War, depressions, and inventions are among the factors that will influence generations to come. When reflecting on the past one of the more prominate events was the Vietnam War. For the first time, people in large numbers began to challenge the government and question whether American’s should be fighting in a war. ... My mother was one of the people that grew up during the Vietnam War era. The struggles that her family dealt with during the war were not uncommon. During an interview with my mother a new and more personal concept of the War and the movement against it were described to me.
The effect of the war on the country was profound. First on college campuses, and then in cities and small towns, as the war drew on people began to doubt the wisdom of the nations involvement in Vietnam and made sure their words were heard.
