Different people have different opinions of what success is. Webster's Dictionary defines success as "a favorable result". I think it is best explained as someone's reaching a predetermined goal. No matter how it is defined, enthusiasm, effort, and perseverance are three key factors that I think play a huge role in success. Enthusiasm is an important part of being successful. The most successful athletes are usually the ones whoseem to be the most enthused while playing their sport.
