Of Mice and Men

John Steinbeck, the author of Of Mice and Men, shows Lennie’s worth through one of his characters. George is Lennie’s friend who sacrifices an easy life for Lennie. George is a friend, teacher, and guardian to Lennie. Through George’s character we can see who Lennie truly is and that he is worth something to someone. Lennie holds George back in life, and George knows this. “God a’mighty, if I was alone I could live so easy”(11). Taking care of Lennie was a great sacrifice, which George made. “I could get a job an’ work, an’ no trouble,” George said many times (11).
