Women s Independence in the 20th Century
The 20th century metamorphoses the world’s cultures faster than any other time in history. ... The most important and obvious change I believe that has taken place in the 20th century is the change in the roles women play in society. The changes that happened in the 20th century began for the most part in the 19th century. In Russia its citizens were making attempts on the Czar’s life in hope to rid Russia of its oppressive government, the same thing happened in France with the French Revolution. ... It began in Europe the century before with France’s Revolution and Karl Marx’s book Communist Manifesto. ... The changes that began in the 19th century and were realized in the 20th century includes women’s independence. In the 19th century, women in other countries like America and Great Britain were holding seminars and going on tours trying to convince politicians and other women that women needed to have the same rights as men in voting, education, and social standings. In France, the idea of women being equal to men did not cause any kind of sensation until the First World War.
