Narrative Essay
We all go through defining moments in our lives, periods of time that change our lives forever. Our first kiss, graduation, leaving home, going to a new school, these are all things that can affect our lives forever. I had a big defining moment when I switched schools in 2nd grade. It was the end of 1st grade. During that summer, they had closed my school, and we had moved into another school district. Since it was a new school, I needed to take a set of “proficiency” tests; Reading, Spelling, and Math. After these tests, I was told I had a 8th grade reading level, and Excellent in spelling, and a 6th grade level in math. 2nd Grade came and left, but 3rd grade was around the corner. A new grade, a new test, YAY! This time, I was invited to take the GATE test, an admittance test for entry into “the smart people’s club” as some had referred it as.
