Teenage Wasteland
Teenage Wasteland The story I have selected is titled “Teenage Wasteland”(1984), by Anne Tyler. The publishing that I used can be found in “Literature: Reading, Reacting, Writing Forth Edition”(2001), by Kirszner and Mandell. This is a story that attempts to allow the reader an insight into a troubled teen’s life. Donny is the main character of this tale of confusion and adolescent struggles. There are three main ideas that symbolize what the author spends much of her focus on: the parents, the tutor, and the prison. Donny’s parents could be considered typical parents in the eyes of most teenagers. Daisy is the mother in this story who has dedicated her career as a housewife.
