THESIS: This was not just another funeral. This was not just another funeral. This is the funeral of a friend, a comrade and a brother. It was a funeral for a fallen police officer from my department. The funeral of my fellow officer was a solemn event. It’s 9:00 AM; I put on my dress uniform and my hat, and I take one last look to make sure everything is in order. I hitch a ride with a fellow officer to pick up the police car at my department. We drive to the funeral home and park the cruiser in our designated parking spot. My department’s car is leading the procession to the commitment. I walk inside of the funeral home and there is complete silence. So far, my police department is the only department that is there. As the morning goes on, more and more police officers start arriving. Soon, there is barely enough room to breathe.
