Wake Up Call

As I enter the Federal correctional facility for the first time, I remember in detail the judge’s final words, “Mr. Reilly, you have been found guilty by a jury of your peers for the crimes in which you were charged. I hereby sentence you to no less than ten years in Federal custody, where it is the will and hope of the court that you will rehabilitate yourself into a productive member of society. Let this sentence serve as a wake up call for you.” Swayed by the charismatic prosecutor, the jury returned a guilty verdict in less than three hours.
