This all comes to prove that decency and morality are characteristics that humans can possess if they were bred maturely, despite of their financial status. One of the most important characters to discuss about relating to this topic is Tom Buchanan, a character who possesses neither decency nor morality despite of his wealth. ... All in all, even though Tom could afford ten thousand dollar pearl necklaces, he obviously doesn’t possess neither decency nor morality. ... Worse of all, when she killed Tom’s mistress, Mrytle Wilson, she didn’t have the decency to report to the police about what had happened. ... The great Gatsby himself also helps prove the fact that decency and morality are bred and not bought, for he is a man of good nature, and he will be whether or not he has money.
