Title: Using Experimentally Derived Densities to Determine the Identify of an Unknown Liquid Problem: Determine the identity of an unknown solid and liquid by determining their densities to the nearest 0.01. Use a list of possible items to match the closest density to the ones on the sheet. Research: Density is the compactness of atoms in an object. Every object has a unique density. Special balances are used to find the exact mass of an object that aids in finding the density of that object. The balance that is used is called the analytical balance. The density of water is one gram per milliliter. The density of water is close to that of most liquids. Some metals in the liquid form are much heavier than water, but other liquids are very close to water's density. The density of most rocks on the average is 3 grams per milliliter.
