Abraham

If you going to talk about ancient Hebrews than you must start with Abraham. Some were near 1800b.c. Tera and his son Abram, who would later be named Abraham, moved to the city of Ur. Abraham marries Sarai, who would later be named Sarah, and declares his belief in one God. This is what starts Judaism. They later move to the land of Canaan. God promised Abraham, that he would be the father of many great nations. Abraham eventually has two sons. One son was to an Egyptian slave girl. His name was Ismail. Sarah also gave Abraham a son his name was Isiac. Abraham was later tested by God to show his faith. God told Abraham to sacrifice his son to him. But at the last second Before Abraham was going to kill his son God told him to stop. The Jewish and Christian religions believe that it was Isaac who Abraham was going to sacrifice. The Muslims believe it was Ishmael. Abraham's son Jacob would have 12 sons and they are thought to have started the 12 tribes of the Israelites. Later the Hebrews became slave of Egypt. Moses is the one who led them out of Egypt. He brought the plagues and is said to have separated the Red Sea. The Israelites than wondered the dessert for forty years. Until they made it to Canaan. Moses never made it to Canaan; he died before they got there. Joshua became the next leader. In 1030b.c., the tribes settled into the land of Israel. Saul became the first king of the Israelites in 1020b.c. During a battle with the Philistines a giant leader of the philistine army steeped forward and challenged any member of the Israeli army. David stepped flowered. David was a real small little boy at the time. But David killed Goliath and later Saul made David king. This happened around 1006b.c. David moved the capital to Jerusalem and was successful in annexing the Philistia, Edom, Moab and ammon. Solomon replaced David in about 965b.c. He created the temple of Jerusalem. But when he died in 926b.c. the kingdom began to fragment and began to fight a civil war....
