Shameka Washington Mohandas K. Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. are men who are most greatly remembered for their struggles to obtain civil and human rights. Both men were able to accomplish their goals with out using violence. Gandhi used the principles of Hinduism and Dr. King emulated Gandhi as well as others to come up with his idea of non-violent protesting. Dr. King also used the Christian principle of turning the other cheek. Mohandas K. Gandhi was a Hindu man. He was very intelligent. He attended school in England, where he was a lawyer. Gandhi began his fight against the British Empire because he saw how unfairly the people of South Africa were being treated.
