bay country

“Bay Country” by Tom Horton is similar to “Beautiful Swimmers” by William Warner. They both elaborate on the wonders of the Chesapeake Bay, and the life it nourishes. However, “Bay Country” focuses on his favoritism of rockfish and “Beautiful Swimmers” focuses on the blue crab. After concluding the preface of “Bay Country”, I conclude that Tom Horton has an amazement with rockfish. In the collection of essays, it states personal observation, as well as, what he learns from others concerning the bay and tributaries that surround it. From the title of each selection it may seem that wildlife is the main topic being discussed, but each essay goes in depth of personal experiences, curiosity, and the improvement of our natural wonder, the Chesapeake Bay.
