Basically, the book is about this fat, ugly girl called "Sarah Byrnes" who has a burned face because of an incident in which she said she pulled a spagetti pan over her own face, which we later discover is a lie. Sarah is bestfriends with this fat guy called "Eric Calhoune" and theyve been friends ever since the start of High School because they are called the "terminal uglies". First, we find Sarah in a breakdown, totally unresponsive in the psychiatric unit for adolscents.
