Some Girls Are Nice
A.) The title of the film is The Burning Bed. The primary areas of law being discussed are battery and assault and Battered Woman’s Syndrome. B.) The main characters are Fran and Mickey. Fran is the wife that is battered and beaten by her abusive husband, whom she murders by burning down the house. C.) It was March 9, 1977 in Michigan and Fran’s house is on fire. Fran then has a flashback where she first met Mickey at a dance and they hit it off right away and began talking. Just a little while later they got married and a year later they are still living with Mickey’s parents and he still doesn’t have a job. This is the point in the relationship that the verbal abuse begins and he slaps her every once in a while, but then it starts to become more frequent.
