Literary Analysis of The Telltale Heart The Tell-Tale Heart is a short story by Edgar Allen Poe. It has a Cold, Bleak mood to it. It also seems quite futile for both the main characters at many points. This futility is conveyed in many ways, including, simply stating it: “All in vain…” Although the writer states, in the first few lines of the story in fact, that he is sane, several details support the fact that he is not.
