Consumer Reports dedicates itself to testing products in the American market in order to provide the consumer with insight on the variety of brands one can buy. They report on many products ranging from cell phones, vacuums, washing machines, to frozen pizzas and other foods. Each article they produce recommends the best brands and warns consumers of the worst brands. Consumer Reports accepts no advertisements so that all their studies are just. In May of 2001, Consumer Reports decided to research the potato chips in the country. The test was of national, regional, and supermarket brands of chips. There were a variety of chips tested. They included: unflavored chips, barbecue-flavored chips, kettle chips, fabricated chips, reduced fat chips, and gourmet chips.
