December Means Holy Day for Many In a time of growing religious intolerance around the world, local members of the Muslim, Christian, and Jew faith, spent Sunday praying, reading sacred scriptures and lighting candles as they celebrated the holy days. During the month of December, Christians are beginning to celebrate Advent, a month of spiritual preparation for the Christmas. The Jews are celebrating Hanukkah, an eight-day festival of lights that remembers the Macabee’s victory over Greek oppressors more than 2,000 years ago. Muslims gathered Sunday night to celebrate Laylat al-Qadr, the night when the Quaran was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad.
