The 911 attacks are an event that impacted the entire world. To some it was the ultimate victory, to others the ultimate tragedy. The application of the term terrorism to describe this event, without the clarification that it is a relative term, is a misuse of the word. The word terrorism can only be applied to this situation by one of the involved parties. To the other, the same event can equally be defined as triumph. An incident of terrorism will always be retaliation for the indignation of one group by another. Closer examination of any major “Terrorist” event in history will always demonstrate that the action was indeed a reaction to an even graver event. The Munich Olympic Game Attacks, Air France Hijacking, and 911 stem from the forceful and continued occupation of Palestine by the nation of Israel. If it weren’t for this occupation, none of the consequential incidents would have happened. Israel does not remember that some time ago, the Palestinians regarded them in the same fashion, as they regard the Palestinians today.
