This experiment will test verbal and written communication, by finding the effect that visualization has on communication. There were twenty subjects used from the University of Hartford. They were randomly placed into two groups of ten each. Each group of ten subject were split into groups of five, in which there were a group of creators and a group of builders. The creators looked at a figure of a bicycle and described all of its characteristics to the point where the builder could replicate it by drawing it on a piece of paper. The builder had no contact with the creator, therefore were required to build it by written instructions from the first groups of creators. A two by two (2x2) factorial study design was utilized for this study. The results were that even though there were some distractions, the builder groups were able to reproduce the figure to a recognizable form from what was written by the creators. Introduction The general topic that is being studied is communication. Studies in the past have shown that when there are two groups, and each group consists of creators and builders, that no matter if distractions are present or not, the builders were not able to replicate what the creators described verbally and in written form. They felt that there was not enough communication between either group to bring about the most accurate information. The experiment was designed to see if a group of builders could use verbal communication amongst a group to replicate a figure in which a group of creators used written communication to describe a figure while observing it.
