The company that we chose as a model for our project is a company called Micon Telecom. Micon Telecom is a small, female owned telecommunications firm that offers complete technology solutions for all types of businesses. Micon is conveniently located in Fremont, CA, but conducts business statewide. Micon has been operating for over 12 years, opening in 1989, before the big telecommunications boom of the 1990’s. Micon started out as an idea from Owner and President, Evangelina Calderon. Originally Evangelina (Vangie) worked for Pacific Bell as a project manager, so she had previous experience in the telecommunications industry. Vangie was very aware of the rising demand for telecommunications in business. So she decided to leave Pacific Bell, and with the help of her husband Trinidad Calderon, started her own telecommunications consulting firm. Micon has been running strong ever since.
