In our complicated world we have many major themes like love, hatred, prejudice kindness etc. Harper Lee in her in her novel To Kill A Mockingbird shows how compassion pays a role in life. Many themes and ideas are presented in this novel, the compassion theme is one of the main ones. Compassion, in the novel is very important because it is what makes the people in the town to help each other in turns of need. Scout is naive to all the pain in the world. Since she is a child she is inexperienced with emotions but gains understanding. Through compassion she becomes a mockingbird able to rise above the blue jays that teach her to be prejudice. Instead she finds love for all her neighbors. Scout is a blue jay at first but evolves into a compassionate and loving mockingbird. Scout is a bright, sensitive and intelligent little girl. For all her intelligence, she is still a child and does not always fully understand the implications of the events she reports she represents the innocence within society. Throughout the novel, Atticus repeats to Scout and Jem the importance of seeing things from another point of view in order to understand what the other person is feeling.
