Napoleon's Power
The French revolution is a reflection of a famous qoute of Napoleon Bonaparte:“Since one must take sides, one might as well choose the side that is victorious, the side which devastates, loots, and burns. Considering the alternative, it is better to eat than be eaten.” It tells how in the Revolution the French were ”eaten” and how they “ate”. The Revolution started with the people of France revolting against their king and queen, Maria Antoinette and Louis XVI, by focing them out of Versailles. They overthrew their power and made up the Declaration of Pilnitz, which said that any one could intervene if it were necessary to protect the French monarhcy. The Convention that was set up to abolish monarchy and make France a republic put both the king and queen on trial and had them executed.
