The Media: How it Shaped Me
There are many things in this world that make up our identity; that make us the people we are today. Some of these things include school, work, and relationships. Some people don’t think that media can play a role in shaping us, however, it does. Things like music, books, the internet and television can help form a person’s identity; these things have for me. Music has helped me find my true self for many years. I love to sit and analyze the lyrics of songs. When you do this, you really find something in you that you probably have never found before. Not just listening to the songs, but sitting down and reading the lyrics. Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s, the music didn’t give the world a lot of hope. I grew up with country music since my mother and father are big country people. I was listening to Willie Nelson and Conway Twitty for as long as I can remember. As I continued on my journey through country music, I listened to songs and read lyrics that I realized effected me in some way shape or form.
